The 4 Days Rwanda Big 5 Wildlife Safari is an immersive game viewing experience where you explore the vast wilderness of Akagera National Park, the country’s premier savanna destination located east of the capital Kigali. Tour highlights include; game drives to encounter a diversity of wildlife notably the Africa’s Big Five listers of; lions, leopard, elephant and buffalos alongside an excellent birdlife. You will extend the wildlife expereince on a leisure boat safari on Lake Ihema to encounter aquatic wildlife and wrap the expereince with a walking safari to explore the unspoilt and raw wilderness surrounded by panoramic landscapes.

The tour is suitable for all travelers from solo to family and includes various handpicked experiences that will offer you an immersive African wildlife experience.
Highlights and Activities
Top highlights on these 4 Days Rwanda Big 5 Wildlife Safari include; game viewing drives across diverse habitats within Akagera NP to encounter a wide variety of wildlife including Masai Giraffes, Black and White Rhinos, Cape buffalo, Common Eland and more. The well paced game drives will be interrupted by scenic stops to appreciate stunning landscapes.
You will extend the game viewing on a guided night drive experience for chances to encounter nocturnal species including; lions, leopards, hyena and birdlife, observing a characterful of behavior of these rather shy species. On the drive, you will have stops to enjoy stargazing across this dark sky and catch sounds and rhythms of the African wilderness.
Another bucket-list highlight include a game viewing boat cruise experience on Lake Ihema for close encounters to various aquatic wildlife and other game that come on the banks. The boat cruise safari duration is 1hr where it explores the quite lake shores up close to hippo schools, and parties of Nile crocodile. Birdlife here is excellent.
On the final morning while at Akagera NP, you will wrap up the wildlife adventure with a guided walking safari up close to the White rhino herds as they forage across their habitats.
Day One: Meet up and Transfer to Akagera NP
This morning your safari driver guide will meet you at your residence/hotel in Kigali City and after a short briefing you will transfer to Akagera NP. The drive to the park will require up to 2.5 hrs interrupted by short health and coffee stops. You will check in at the park in time for lunch. Late evening boat safari on Lake Ihema.

Day 2/3: Day Game Viewing drives and Nite Safari drives on our stay at Karenge Bush Camp
On these two full days you will explore on a game viewing experience across the parks’ varied habitats characterized by wooded ridges, wetlands and vast grasslands to encounter Africa’s Big 5 and excellent game. The cast of characters include African Savanna Elephants and Cape buffalo that frequent the lake shores and woodlands, Impala, Common Eland, both Black and Southern White Rhinos, Masai Giraffe Topi and excellent birdlife. Predators are well represented across the park including Lions, leopards and hyena.
The night drive safari experience will enhance our chances to encounter and observe these predators up-close and also offer us opportunity to stargaze and enjoy the wilderness. We will take well-paced game viewing drives across the game rich grassland plains of Kilala to encounter a diversity of wildlife including Zebra and a quality list of birdlife. In between this varied experiences, you will have plenty of time to relax and enjoy amazing and excellent views while at Karenge Bush Camp.

Day Four: Rhino walking safari and Game drive while exiting the park to Kigali
After a full breakfast this morning, you will meet up your walking safari guides where after a short safety briefing will lead you to explore this vast wilderness on foot and up-close the rhino herds as they forage. Akagera NP is home to both Black and Southern White Rhinos and walking safaris ONLY lead up-close the white rhinos because they are less aggressive compared to their counterparts. The informative walk will last up to an hour long, thereafter will continue with a game drive to exit the park and transfer on to Kigali City.
