Birding Hotspots in Uganda – Kidepo Valley NP

Kidepo Valley NP boasts a checklist of over 480 bird species ranking it one of the best birding hotspot in Uganda. The park lies mostly within the Somali – Masai habitat, an Important Bird Area known for good collection of dry country species reaching at kidepo on their western arnge limit.

Ishasha Sector – Queen Elizabeth National Park

Ishasha sector lies on the southern tip of Queen Elizabeth National Park in the western Uganda. Popular for its tree-climbing lion prides that habitually lounge up various fig-trees during the heat of the day, Ishasha sector offers an exciting wildlife game viewing expereince.

King’s Palace Museum in Nyanza – Rwanda

King’s Palace Museum in Nyanza a southern province of Rwanda offers an immersive cultural and historic expereince. The museum complex houses the ancient Royal Palace of the Kingdom of Rwanda, traditional Inyambo Cows and a modern resident Palace used by King Mutara III Rudahigwa.

Birding at Umusambi Village – Kigali

Umusambi Village is an excellently restored wetland lying on the edges of Kigali City and offers a rewarding day-birding on any of Rwanda birding tours. The sanctuary covers an area of over 21 hectares established as a Grey-crowned Crane sanctuary whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release these species back into the wild.

Birding Lutembe Bay

Lutembe Bay is a Ramsar Site and an Important Bird Area that supports a diversity of over 110 checklist of species that include large congregations of Palearctic Migrants, Lake Victoria Biome species and resident waders.
